Job Description: A hands-on, customer-facing technical implementation role. You'll support the design, configuration, validation, and ongoing monitoring of Apella's customer data interfaces, ensuring hospital partners receive accurate, timely data from their EMR systems—including Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, and related reporting platforms. You're the person hospitals hear from on implementation progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead customer-facing implementation tasks—serve as primary point of contact during data interface setup for EHR/Optime, interface, and reporting teams
- Build and run test scripts to validate HL7 interfaces (SIU messages), report-based data feeds (Epic Reporting Workbench, Clarity), and block schedule/release files
- Monitor production interfaces for variances and outages; escalate and resolve issues proactively
- Coordinate the technical data integration workstream for new implementations through staging, endpoint testing, and production go-live QA
- Create and maintain customer-specific data configuration documents, test plans, runbooks, and interface specifications
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success on data availability questions and roadmap input
- Evaluate alternative data sources such as ADT feeds, orders interfaces, and Epic APIs as the platform expands
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of experience in healthcare technology, EHR integrations, or related implementation/technical operations
- Experience with Epic (OpTime, Radiant, Cupid, Bridges, Reporting Workbench, Clarity) and/or Cerner/Oracle Health strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of HL7 (SIU, ADT) and familiarity with interface engines
- Ability to compare, validate, and troubleshoot scheduling data across systems using Excel, Google Sheets, or SQL-based tools (Metabase, Hex)
- Strong project management skills managing multiple customer implementations simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication — you'll be the person clients hear from regularly
Nice to have: Direct Epic/Cerner implementation experience; surgical scheduling and perioperative data familiarity; SSO configuration experience; Crystal Reports or Clarity/Reporting Workbench background.
Benefits: Competitive salary and stock options, flexible vacation policy, remote-first environment, comprehensive health/dental/vision, 16 weeks parental leave for all parents.
