Job Description: ClickHouse is PostHog's core infrastructure — every product and every customer depends on it. You'll build systems and automations to provision, scale, and optimize one of the world's largest ClickHouse clusters as PostHog grows toward trillions of events per year and 100+ petabytes of data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build automation for dynamic provisioning and scaling of large ClickHouse clusters handling 100+ PB of data
• Investigate and experiment with the latest cloud hardware to find the optimal setup for each workload (budget provided)
• Work on bleeding-edge ClickHouse implementations including open format backed tables
• Build and maintain query performance tooling as part of an active query optimizer project
• Use Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes to automate instance provisioning and management
• Maintain and evolve a scalable, cost-efficient storage and query engine meeting current and future product needs
• Control and throttle query loads by team, product, and priority through a query control plane API

Requirements:

• Deep ClickHouse internals experience — you went inside the database, not just used it at a high level
• Experience automating dynamic provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes
• Experience with OLAP databases at scale and complexity (high volume, high data volume)
• Stack familiarity: Python, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, AWS, ZooKeeper or equivalent
