Description

Company: Amplify Renewables

About the Company: Amplify Renewables is a systematic energy forecasting and trading company working to make the power grid more predictable and reliable. They ingest large volumes of messy, heterogeneous data — market data, generator data, weather data, outage data — and build models to forecast it. Bootstrapped, profitable, and growing. Team is ex-D.E. Shaw, Optiver, and Stanford.

Job Category: Software Engineering / Data Platform / Energy / Python

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Remote — USA (SF or Seattle preferred but nationwide)

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 all-cash (paid from company profits, not venture funding)

Job Description: You'll take over technical direction for Amplify's data systems end-to-end, working closely with the founders. This is a high-ownership role in a small, elite team building the data infrastructure for energy forecasting and grid reliability. No meetings-heavy culture — this is a deep-work, async-heavy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve data systems end-to-end across ingestion, processing, storage, and query infrastructure
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for heterogeneous energy datasets (market, generator, weather, outage)
  • Work closely with the founders on technical direction for the data systems platform
  • Design systems that support multiprocessed and HPC workloads at scale
  • Write clean, well-packaged Python code that can be maintained reliably over time
  • Communicate clearly in a deep-work, async-heavy environment

Requirements:

  • 4+ years shipping and maintaining production software
  • Strong Python skills — writing, maintaining, packaging, and production deployment
  • Experience with multiprocessed and HPC workloads
  • Crisp written communication — async-heavy team with minimal meetings
  • Interest in energy systems, forecasting, or quantitative domains a strong advantage

Benefits: All-cash compensation paid from company profits, fully remote, no investor pressure, deep-work focused culture.
