Job Description: You'll own Wellhub's observability stack end-to-end — building a self-service "Observability as a Service" ecosystem that enables engineering teams to instrument their code instantly and gain high-fidelity signals without operational overhead. The "golden paths" you design will determine how every engineering team at Wellhub understands what their services are doing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full end-to-end ownership of Wellhub's observability stack: metrics, logs, traces, profiling
• Build a self-service observability platform balancing performance with cost-effectiveness
• Solve complex challenges around high-cardinality metrics, log retention, and distributed tracing
• Design "Golden Paths" that let developers instrument their code instantly with high-fidelity signals
• Evolve and maintain cloud-native infrastructure based on Kubernetes
• Build tooling using Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, Kafka, ArgoCD, Crossplane, and Hashicorp Vault
• Code in Golang, Ruby, or Python to build and maintain observability tools

Skills Required: Observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, Thanos), Kubernetes, AWS, ArgoCD, Crossplane, Hashicorp Vault, Kafka, Golang (primary), Ruby or Python.

Requirements:

• Senior staff-level platform or infrastructure engineering experience
• Deep observability engineering expertise (metrics, logging, tracing, profiling)
• Kubernetes production operations at scale
• Experience with cloud-native tooling (ArgoCD, Crossplane, etc.)
• Comfortable working with a globally distributed engineering team
