Ready to take your Project Management career to the next level? Join our Project Management Office and support mission critical projects from internal to statewide!

State Fund’s Project Management Office has immediate openings for a Senior Project Manager (Manager II) to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives that drive outcomes across the organization. This role partners closely with both business and technology leaders to deliver high-impact projects and provides leadership to project team members within a matrixed environment.

This is not a task-oriented position. We're looking for someone who can navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and drive meaningful results in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large, complex initiatives spanning multiple business units and technology teams
  • Drive end-to-end delivery from initiation through execution and implementation
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and changing priorities
  • Facilitate alignment across cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
  • Provides clear, concise executive-level reporting on status, risks, and outcomes
  • Support and drive adoption of PMO practices, governance, and tools (e.g. Planview, Agile/hybrid delivery)
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and maturity of the EPMO
  • Leverages project management fundamentals and negotiates with client level personnel and internal staff for project support.

This position may be filled at one of the following State Fund locations: Bakersfield, Eureka, Fresno, Glendale, Oxnard, Pleasanton, Redding, Riverside, Rohnert Park, Sacramento, Salinas, San Diego, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Ana, Stockton, or Vacaville

Desirable Qualifications

  • Five (5) years’ experience leading complex projects in a matrixed environment using formal project management methodologies
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate from the Project Management Institute
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or comparable agile experience, Certified Scrum Product Management (CSPO)
  • Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization
  • General understanding of AI tools and their use in supporting project planning, decision-making, and process efficiency.
